7/13/01 Wrestling was dull on 3/22/01. Then on 3/23/01 the WWF bought WCW and around the same time ECW went bankrupt. This new venture wasn't going to develope overnight; in fact it took 3and a half months for the cross-over storylines to begin. It began to get exciting and then finally, one day after the King of the Ring ppv, the storylines began and interest again arose. Ratings were slowly going down but that came to a halt and were then at a stand still. This past monday on raw, the storyline finally got really good. "Expect the unexpected" is a hard quote to follow if you are a wrestling fan due to all the stories and spoilers of what is going to happen, or who is going to sign and when they will debut, on the internet. This past monday the WWF did something that hasn't happened since the leg drop (Hogan's old finisher) became a common ineffective move. The WWF pulled out a storyline that no one expected. No internet newsletters, not even professional Reporters knew it was coming but this past monday, Funaki became wwf champion......no wait, that was a dream. This past monday ECW reformed and mergerd with wCw. Now it may only appear to be a storyline, but considering the original plan was to have wCw have its own tv time slot and now it's name is wCw/ECW, the writers finally pulled a fast one on the fans and there were wrestler debuts, new storylines that from where I stand, will last for months and more importantly, it will gain fan interest back and once this whole Invasion comes to a close, just like the Austin/Mcmahon did, a large fanbase will stick waiting for more, even if it isn't an invasion anymore. Storylines will be boring at some times but the fans will still stay to see what happeneds. This will keep the large fan base afloat for at least another couple years and as big names like Goldberg, Nash, Hall, Flair etc. come back it will only keep things fresh. Something tells me we're in for somthing good. If I missed anyone here, send me an email and let me know. Thx
